B. Propst Headshot 2

Personal Bio

I am an energetic and experienced scholar-practitioner with a passion for disrupting whiteness and dismantling oppressive structures within college and universities that prohibit students from being authentic and successful in their pursuit of higher education. With almost 15 years of experience in functional areas within student affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment management, I have created and implemented high-impact programs through strategic planning, cross-divisional collaborations, and comprehensive assessments. I currently work in Academic Affairs as director of an integrated Advising and First Year Experience program for a medium, private, liberal arts institution in the southeastern United States.

I received my B.A. in Sociology & African American Studies and my M.Ed. in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Currently, I am a 4th year doctoral student in the Ph.D. in Educational Studies w/ concentration in Higher Education program at UNCG with plans to graduate in May/August of 2022.

I am very ambitious and strategic in developing my skills as a scholar-practitioner through scholarly publications, conducting research on specific trends and populations in higher education, active involvement in professional associations, conference presentations, and seeking out professional development opportunities to enhance professional competencies. In addition to my professional interests, I have been recognized on the state, regional, and national levels for my contributions to the field as a new professional and in the area of first-year experience. I also mentor, coach and/or consult graduate students and new professionals in the field of higher education and student affairs in the areas of professional development, mentorship, supervision, and navigating the socialization of higher education.
